Back to Work, I go with my dreams!

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
Eleanor Roosevelt

The New England coast line is one of my favorite places. The rugged shoreline and the deep blue sea are a great place to go for inspiration and reflection. I just returned home last night after spending the weekend there with family. We were in one of my favorite seaside towns,  Marblehead, Massachusetts.

I often dream of buying a little cottage in this quaint village. Yes, I can see my little Rose Hill cottage now, high above the Atlantic overlooking the water - It would be filled with all of my studio supplies and plenty of Starbucks coffee... I could spend my days just painting and dreaming! Wouldn't that be nice?????

Oh well, it's back to reality today...and work!

I think I will stick that dream on my vision board for now...for someday, you just never know.....as long as you believe in your dreams....

This artist, Michael Graves was painting in his "Studio".
Later in the weekend, Saylor and I saw this painting he was working on in the local gallery
He told us that he was living his dream!

Do you live your dreams?
Do you believe in your dreams?
I sure hope so!

Scenes from The City

Join me for a peek into my weekend....
in my favorite city, New York!

One World Trade Center

I spent the weekend in the Big Apple with my girlfriends....
Lots of eating...shopping....walking and good times.

We visited the World Trade Center Memorial

Located  where the twin towers of the World Trade Centre once stood are two granite pools in its footprints with waterfalls cascading 30 feet below. The pools are one acre in size and sprawl out across WTC Plaza. Each pool represents one of the two towers that fell on September 11, 2011.

The pools are surrounded by bronze panels inscribed with the names of those who perished in the attacks on 9/11. It is an amazing memorial.

The silence of the park and the waterfalls was just breathtaking.

Later in the day we traveled to
SoHo....

There, I even got to meet Rachel Ashwell the founder of Shabby Chic....
to my surprise she was working inside The Shop, right after I took this picture!
It made my day...
She was such a delight!

Also that weekend we ran into  Andy Warhol outside
of ABC Carpet and Home in Union Square

We were lucky enough to dine on a yummy dinner at Buddakan...

We had Milk and Cookies at The Standard in The Meat Packing District

and had a lot of great photo ops, including this
 Moet Sailboat....
"Be Fabulous" that's their motto, so we adopted it for our very own!

What a view!
We had a delightful cocktail hour, here at Gigino's overlooking
the New York Harbor...

Gigino is located in Wagner Park overlooking  the Statue of Liberty
Gigino, for details.

Such a great time, I am ready to go back!
Hope you enjoyed my "Scenes"

Sunday Sketches - A friend

Hello!
The birds are singing outside of my studio windows this morning.

Happy little birds with calls to their friends welcoming a new day!

Their songs of promise and encouragement to one another inspired me to think about
the ability a friend can play in helping you fly in life, even through the most difficult of times!
An with their songs, we know we are never alone...

Friends make the climb easier....don't you think?

I am off to finish this sketch...
Enjoy your day!

I am sharing this with my friends over at

See you there!

Creative Tuesdays - Everyday Happiness

Hello!
It's Tuesday and that means it's time for Creative Tuesdays!

The theme this week is Everyday Happiness....
So, of course when I read that my first reaction was
YES, for me....a visit to Starbucks and a Venti Skim Misto -
that's everyday happiness to this lady....
But, then I got to thinking about another type of happiness...and that's LOVE....

My dear friend of 30 years is about to have her first baby....and I thought about her and the
Everyday Happiness that little Liam will bring her when he arrives....any day now...
I remember how much I loved holding my little babies - their softness, their baby smell and their baby cheeks were just like a slice of heaven...

So, I drew up a quick little sketch and am dedicating it to my friend Christine
 and her future Everyday Happiness....

I am Smelling the Roses....

Look what I found in my garden this morning.
A beautiful pink rose....Isn't she stunning?
...I was lucky enough to catch her just after the clouds parted and the rain stopped.
A simple reminder that life is truly beautiful - and just like Mother Nature,
we are strong and can blossom even after the hardest of rain showers.

So, I am off dear friends, to stop and smell the roses this afternoon...come along with me!

PS - by the way this is my 500 post....watch for details on a fabulous give away!

Silver Liquid Drops

"Let the rain kiss you.
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops.
Let the rain sing you a lullaby"
Langston Hughes

Mother Nature is showering us with April rain
 in May...
Ooops, I think she got confused  this year....
That's ok...I am fine with the little silver liquid drops...

Just had to draw this perfect rainy day outfit I saw earlier in the week....
Cute, right?
I love my black Hunter Boots for splish' splashing in the puddles...
Think I need a green pair....now, too!
How about you, is it raining where you are?

Hope you can enjoy it if it is....
