Happy Birthday to the BIG cheese
and
It's My Party and I'll Cry if I want to....
I colored in this sketch of my daughter,
using my new Prisma markers. You can find the original sketch and story, here
They are fun but the colors are so much stronger than the watercolors and colored pencils I use.
I have to get used to it.
So a big Happy Birthday post for Creative Tuesdays.
Come join the fun at Mr. Toast's blog....
you really will have a good time, there!

Ooooooh, ooooooh, ooooooohhhhh!! I LOVE THE MARKERS!!!!! (but they are my FAV illustration tool anyway). These look incredible. I love the saturated hues - and why I love markers, but yes they are a big departure from watercolor.
What a great job gal. I have some new Bic fine point markers that I used too and yes they are brighter than what I am used to watercolors, but I am finding them handy for my younger grands birthday cards, wish I always make. I did one yesterday of Superboy and these markers were perfect.

These both look really amazing. I an interested in trying out those markers myself. The bright colors are nice, but I understand what you meant about getting used to them! That mouse really takes the cake for me!
both lovely and it's so nice to see the bottom one in color - wonderful use of colors
What a contrast between the two pictures, lovely
These are wonderful Heather! I love the markers, I have Pitt pens but I'm thinking I have to get some prisma markers now.
Look at that delicious wedge of cheese! :) What more could a mousette want on her birthday, right? Very cute!
I remember your second drawing for your daughter's birthday. I'm intrigued by the markers...really nice!
Oh these are so darling. Even tears are illustrated so lovely.
I just bought a tin of prisma colors. Have never used them as all I ever is watercolor.
I can't wait to try mine.
They are both wonderful. It is fun to see the one inspired by your daughters party colored. Thanks for telling us what you used. I have never used these markers, I do enjoy Pitt markers.
Both of your drawings are wonderful; I love your work. I think it is especially cute that the little mouse has birthday cheese instead of cake.
everyone's using markers this theme! I like your 'happy' and then 'sad' birthday themes, great contrast.
what wonderful illustrations! I love all those vibrant colors esp on those balloons how fun! ahh yes markers I haven't used them in years - hmm now I think I might go look for mine! Thanks for the inspiration ♥
Heather, i loved the drawing but love the bold coloured version too. Love the top image as well. both so fun and so you. you know, I loved that song, btw, when it was re-released in the 80's. my mother would always go around the place singing it. lol. you can see both of these in the moatge with new theme tomorrow! :) you are a gem to do this, ...adn two, to boot. Whoa.
Woaw, i love this! Brilliant, Heather!

Happy Birthday to your daughter! :) this is a lovely illustration, and it reminds me of my birthdays while growing up :)
Heather..
I know good fun art when I see it.
My prediction is that you will be the next Beatrix Potter!
Your art is amazing.

these are gorgeous.
You're so brilliant, Heather! Poo poo on you!! :) JUST kidding. hahahaha Adore the mouse cake! hee
LOve your bi'day mouse! And I love the brighter colors! I use Higgins/Pelikan waterproof colored ink (paint with brush like watercolor) because I love the super rich colors... similar effect to your markers.
