Sunday Sketches - Madeline and Monet

Today is Sunday and it's time for Sunday Sketches, with Sophia over at The Blue Chair Diary. Here is a quick sketch of Madeline reading about one of her favorite artists, Claude Monet.

We were lucky to see many of Monet's works of art, yesterday when we visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York City.

I would love to create a story about Madeline's Adventures at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. I spent the day there with my family yesterday - and thought it would make such a great idea for a children's book...especially since Madeline loves art so much. There sure were a lot of beautiful pieces of art to see. Of course, there would be a follow up book, Madeline visits The Louvre, in Paris as well. Madeline does love France after all, oui oui.

There was so much to see at The Museum.

Have you ever been?
I can't wait to go back!
So, grab a pencil and a sketch pad and come join us at Sunday Sketches!
See you there

That is a fabulous idea, Heather!! You must do it!!

I can even see the Museum selling copies!

The first time I was at the Metropolitan Museum, I was astounded by Monet's works and how little I knew of his non-Giverney pieces. Which I loved even more, actually!

Note to self - get back to NYC and go the the Museum again!

You are so gifted at telling the story within the story and conceptualization. I love Madeline's Adventure concept and think it would be a winner. Great composition here. I love her pose over the open book! Great work for a quick sketch. You rock and I so see your career in this wonderful field taking off soon.

Then she has to come to The National in London and I'll show her around! It's free to enter, and I can never resist popping in when I am passing. It's great to just run in and see a favourite painting or two for 5 minutes!

So sweet. I love how clever you are. I have been to the MOMA. We saw the Matisse/Picasso exhibit a few years back. It was awesome! Would love to see Madeline's adventures at the Lourve.

Did you ever read From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. It is about two kids that run away from home and live in the Metro. Museum of Art. Good book for kids. Would be a fun book from a mouse's perspective.....hint hint.
