Paint Party Friday - Paint Pins

So, I had an idea to take air modeling clay and shape into some of my little character's faces.
I attached a small pin to the back of them while they were drying.
It took about 4 days for the clay to dry.
I painted the faces of Madeline and Miss Kitty with
acrylics...
then attached it to my daughter's back pack....
She loved it!
They were fun to make, but I definitely need to work on creating these clay pins. The clay didn't dry as smooth as I thought....

They were fun though. So this morning my kids and I molded some more shapes, we will post those in the future.

For more Paint Party Fun pop on over here, to Kristin and Eva's blog! There is so much great art to see.
See you there

These are so cool! It's always neat to see how 2D characters transform when they are created in a 3D medium...

Btw, I've nominated you for an award over at my blog!

nice pins, surprised how long they took to dry! Maybe you could take a ceramics course to learn even more!

What made you think of making clay pins of your characters? They turned out really cute. I can't wait to see what else you and the kids came up with. Happy PPF

these are great1 I really love how you made them into your characters. I'll bet your daughter's friends love them too!! Be prepared she may come home from school with orders. Air dry clay shrinks quite a bit and sometimes distorts. Why don't you try white polymer clay. You can mold it, bake it in no time, paint when its dry and you don't have to wait four days. :-)

What a fabulous fun idea. But then I would love Madeline on any thing or in any medium.

How fun, fun, fun! I've been twidling around with my polymer clay trying to decide what to make. Not sure yet. I love what you did and they are unique as kiki says. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend Heather.

Those turned out adorably! What a fantastic idea!
...did you use paperclay? You can sand that to a smooth finish after it's dry :)

How wonderful, your like making your own merchandise already ;0) Fimo is better than air dry (you bake it) so no waiting 4days and very smooth, you can always take a fine nail file and smooth the air dry if you like working with this though.
