I'm Back....

Mr. Willow

I just wanted to let you know that we are safe
and back up and running here at Rose Hill Designs after Hurricane Sandy.

It's been a long, almost 3 weeks, without power or Internet,
but we are officially back up and running...cable and all.

Last weekend the power was finally restored at my home.
It was a long, cold two weeks.
On our property we lost 10 trees, one being a beautiful 100 year old Willow.
The wind and trees ripped the power and cable lines from our house, the night of Sandy.
It was 730 p.m. when the house went dark... quiet and cold.
We counted the days and endured a snow storm that followed Sandy's trail.

It's been a long three weeks, but I am grateful that my family is safe and my home is OK as well,
unlike many other people in our community
and our Tri-State area who may not even have power or a home for Thanksgiving.

Our shore area was devastated as well, and our beaches won't be the same for a long time.
But, we must pick up the pieces and move onward and upward
....rebuilding our lives one step at a time!

(This was how we felt last Saturday when
the Power guys came to our house to re-attach the lines!
YAY for HEAT)

Thanks for being here and ALL of your kind thoughts and wishes,
I appreciate it more than you know!

So glad you're back, Heather! Sometimes it seems a bit romantic to be without power, but for almost 3 weeks, I think the novelty would wear off. I'm sorry to hear about Mr. Willow and the loss of your other trees, but very glad to hear that you and your family are doing well and there was no damage to your home. :)

So happy to hear you are all safe and sound. Sorry for your trees. 3 weeks without power! I wonder if you learned anythign about yourself in that time...I think my family could use three weeks without TV...heat I'd keep, though. :)

PS - super cute illustration!

Yay! I'm glad you have power. I don't think I could have endured three weeks without lights or heat, especially with the weather you've had. I'm glad you are ok!

Such good news to see you back, blogging, and safe with power. Your illustration is so "powerful".

Sad for your 10 trees, and the picture of your tree missing part of his face is touching.
