Holiday House Tour - Part deux

Ready for More of the house, tour?
Here we are in the living room.
Looking into the dining room.
oh, did I mention my house was built in 1763??
Yes, there is a hearth in my dining room, which is where they used to cook all of their meals back in the 1700s

It is a very large fireplace, that is in working condition. I have decorated it with white lights and white branches this year. I keep a basket of my favorite holiday books there, too.  Across the top are little votive candles, I always have them going at parties there are about 30 across the top of my fireplace. They are so pretty night.

These are stockings are new to my collection this year. These are hand made by wonderful Aunt Wendy. She hand makes ornaments for us every year. I'll show you those later in Part Three of the tour. But this is what she cross-stitched for us this year. Oh, I just love them!

Ok, more sparkling reindeer, can be found on my dining room table. Also, these gorgeous black iron Christmas trees, I fell in love with them when I saw them at a local shop, and knew they would be perfect on my white table.

I love filling bowls with sparkling pine cones. Very simple. And more candle light can be found in these oversized pillar holders.
and last but not least....

I am sharing a few of my ornaments.
Part 3 of the tour will consist of some of favorite tree ornaments.
Here is a sneak peek of just a few....
I am a NYC girl at heart, can you tell???
Do you have a favorite ornament?
Hope you enjoyed Part Deux....

Illustration Friday - Dear Diary

Dear Diary,
I have seen things so beautiful, that they have brought tears to my eyes.
Yet, none of them match the gracefulenss and beauty of a horse running free.
Today, I feel beautiful and
that makes me feel free.

Sunday Sketches - Madeline

well, this is what happens

when your computer BREAKS and you don't know how to use your husbands! HA HA HA
And this is Madeline, my mouse on a mission to find the elusive monarch butterfly...

I came home today and my computer was KA-PUT, so I am working with what I have. I can't figure out how to crop a picture on his computer, so here is my Sunday Sketch...just smaller than I would like!

Why do we depend so much on something that we can't fix ourselves??? It's soooo frustrating....oh well, it's not the end of the world!!!

Anyway, for more pictures of Madeline, you can go here...Also,  don't forget to go to visit my friend, Sophia, over at the Blue Chair Diary for more cool artistic talent!
Happy Sunday!!! and keep your fingers crossed my computer is back for next week!

Happy Friday

Happy Friday...
So, just taking a little break from watercolors today,  and I'm thinking of  colors to paint my bedroom walls -
they are bubblegum PINK right now...romantic right?
So, I'm off to the paint store...they know me there...."Back again...???!"
So, I might have a small obsession with PAINT!!!!

This time I'm going to try these samples....

All from Benjamin Moore.
What do you think?
I want GLAMOUR - I want something SPARKLEy - I'm done with the PINK...
I want to feel like I LOVE my bedroom....
So, these bedrooms from Bella Notte are my inspiration.
BLACK and WHITE!!!
BTW, Bella Notte makes the SOFTEST most luxurious
throws and blankets this side of dreamland. The Silk Velvet Quilted blanket is a MUST!
Highly recommend...and SO dreamy....
What about this room?
Again from Bella Notte
.... black and white again...
Yes, It is my favorite color scheme!

....so, here goes!
what are you up to today?

Grab your bags, we are traveling...

My husband took me away to Stonington, Connecticut for a quick get -a -way....
All I had in my purse to draw with was a pen, and a few colored pencils...so, this is a ROUGH sketch of the view from our room!

Yes, It's right on the water, home to Connecticut's last working fishing fleet.
We stayed at the lovely Inn at Stonington, which you can visit here.
We had wonderful views, of Stonington Harbor and Fischers Island Sound from our deck....and we were  directly across from Skippers Dock, AWESOME chowder right on the water with views of the Long Island Sound and the Atlantic...and mooring facilities for boat tie up!

....
Stonington is a quaint little walking  town with some
GREAT restaurants and shops, a tiny little beach and lots of history...

We did a walking tour of the town and found...

The Old Lighthouse Museum which sits right on the water and was built in 1823.

Then we strolled down the street and...we sat here at the Dog Watch Cafe ....and had cocktails....
another place....that's right on the water

and we had some of the BEST Mexican food at Milagro, which you can visit here
and out of sight oysters at the Water Street Cafe.

Mystic Village is just a short stop away and we spent one day there, walking around town, visiting all of the little shops and art galleries...just the two of us!

Where did we eat?
Here, at The S&P Oyster Company

a dreary day, but it's still our favorite little spot!

So if you love New England and nautical history, the ocean, and quaint little villages,
check out Stonington, Connecticut and The Inn at Stonington ...

and near by Mystic( ps, when you are with the kids, Mystic is great, too!
The aquarium, museums, and the Argia Cruises, make great family time)

Well, as you can see I ate a lot.....so now it's time to rest!

Have a great day, Heather
