Sunday Sketches - The Red Balloon

Happy Easter Everyone!

It's time for Sunday Sketches - with Sophia and the gang over at The Blue Chair Diary.
This is just a sketch of an idea that came to me earlier this week...

I created a "book cover" for the story of Madeline and The Red Balloon
(just a made up story I have in my head...there's lots of those up in my brain)

Madeline stumbles upon a bright red balloon caught in the tree in the field.
She tugs
she pulls
and the next thing you know,
she's off on her first adventure....
with her bright red balloon....

Imagine grabbing hold of a balloon and flying all over the world?
Who would you meet on your trip?
Where would you want to go?
What would you see....

Enjoy your day!
See you at Sunday Sketches!
PS
Today is the last day to enter my giveaway.
To enter, go here
We will be picking the winner tonight!
Good Luck!

Happy Easter Heather. Madeline is adorable, love her outfit. Great book cover you should write the book too, it would be a fun story to teach children about other places in the world.

Happy Easter Heather. You've done it again. You've made this old lady smile. I love the book cover and if there are stories in that brain of yours you need to get them out there. I can see it all now. A series of Madeline books in homes all over the world. Have fun with the kiddies and the Easter egg hunt. Hugs

Oh I love this! Love the blue sky, that red balloon and of course Madeline. Sounds like a cute story, you should take it out of your head, put it on paper and then add written by to your book cover!

Madeline and her red balloon has me all dreamy. You're really going to have to take that trip to Paris soon!

I really like your Madeline and the red balloon idea. Now tell me, please, how did you get your red balloon to look so smooth and crisp with your watercolours? Do you add a little bit of artist ink pen on top? I could not get my red balloon (with my hippo) to look that stunning. :)

Happy Easter!!

PS Yes, I did get your email. Thank you. I was thinking I responded. Sorry. :)

Write it!

Great illustration. Lots of great colour balance, the red of the balloon just has it bouncing off the page.

And Madeline has some fantastic character in the drawing.

Hope you had a great Easter.

Oh what adventure Madeline is on with her red balloon...Yes, get that story to the publisher.

I actually retold Grandfather's Clock to my grandsons this weekend, and now I'm getting inspired to get to illustrating it again.

Thanks for being such an inspiration.
