Sunday Sketches - Let's Work Together

We have been busy around my house working on decorating the Christmas tree, writing our Christmas cards and preparing cookies for holiday parties and cookie exchanges...it's a lot of fun, but it's more fun having my 2 girls along side of me to help! Thanks girls!

They inspired this sketch here that I am sharing with my friends over at Sunday Sketches today!
See you there!

Sunday Sketches - The Post It girls

Good Morning
What do I do with Post It notes piled next to my bed?
I draw faces...faces...and more faces!

Yes, I love thinking of moods, people or characters
that I see throughout the week and just creating a quick sketch of their face...
LOTS of post it notes around here!
So, I have attached a few here to show you what my sketchy brain looks like on a Post It note!

I am sharing these with my friends over at Sunday Sketches.
Visit Sophia's blog, here to participate!
Hope your Sunday is a good one -
Yes, we got snow!
Snowtober, they are calling it!
I am sharing the blank pages of post it girls for you to color in yourself! PRINT, Style and have fun!

Sunday Sketches - - Time to Visualize

Welcome to Sunday Sketches!
I am happy that you have joined us today.
It is my pleasure to be able to guest host
for our wonderful hostess, Sophia today.

So, Do you visualize what you want in life?
I do...

That's why I am sharing a sketch from my visualization diary
with you all.
So, what is it that I am visualizing here?

Yes, it's a book...
written and illustrated by me...
Ok, No,
this has not been published, yet...
or even written for that matter....
BUT
I have always dreamed of someday illustrating a book of my very own
...and I figure,
if I visualize, practice, practice, practice,
work VERY,VERY hard, then I am halfway there...
Life is too short to not do what you want -
So let's go...
Let's follow our dreams....

I am looking forward to visiting you all....and
I can't wait to see what you have to share, today!
Thank you so very much for joining in!

- Sophia our thoughts are with you and your father at this very emotional time.
xoxo

Sunday Sketches - Thanks Dad

Happy Father's Day
I found this poem and I thought it was perfect for this sketch I did for Sunday Sketches -

"Walking down the winding path

I hold tight to Daddy's hand
His firm but gentle grip makes me
Feel safe like nothing else can
I don't know where we are going
But my Daddy knows the way
He leads us down the path that's right
And will not let us stray
I hold on to his hand tightly
I know he won't let me fall
For my Daddy is the biggest and the strongest of them all
I don't ever have to worry
When I hold his hand in mine
Because I know he will protect
And love me for all time"
author - Sharon Froese

is dedicated to ALL of the dads out there, today!

Thanks Dad!
I Love You!

Happy Father's Day
to all of the Dad's today!
This is a quick sketch I did for Sunday Sketches, over at The Blue Chair Diary
See you there!

Sunday Sketches - The Red Balloon

Happy Easter Everyone!

It's time for Sunday Sketches - with Sophia and the gang over at The Blue Chair Diary.
This is just a sketch of an idea that came to me earlier this week...

I created a "book cover" for the story of Madeline and The Red Balloon
(just a made up story I have in my head...there's lots of those up in my brain)

Madeline stumbles upon a bright red balloon caught in the tree in the field.
She tugs
she pulls
and the next thing you know,
she's off on her first adventure....
with her bright red balloon....

Imagine grabbing hold of a balloon and flying all over the world?
Who would you meet on your trip?
Where would you want to go?
What would you see....

Enjoy your day!
See you at Sunday Sketches!
PS
Today is the last day to enter my giveaway.
To enter, go here
We will be picking the winner tonight!
Good Luck!

Sunday Sketches- Little Miss Q

It's Sunday, and it's time for Sunday Sketches. I love seeing what all of the Sunday Sketch participants have been working on throughout the week.  Really, seeing what other artists have spent their days creating is so much fun for me!

Currently, I am working on my story for my children's book illustration and writing class.

It's a little "love" story about the letters Q and U.
and, they meet in a bowl of SOUP.

Hot, right? Hee! Hee!

We are "storyboarding" this week. Here's a rough sketch, of Miss Q!

For more Sunday Sketches please do pop over to The Blue Chair Diary, here.
I will see you there....

It's time for Sunday Sketches.
So grab your pencil and a cup of coffee and come join us!
This is a sketch of something that I am working on for a post later this week. She's all done up in red, white and pink...and she's wearing a big RED sequin heart pin, from a fun shop I found on line recently...I will share that with you too, this week!

I have also found a great way to make sequins which I am going to share with you, when I post her in color.

Sunday Sketches - Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary Sunday Sketches
Well, according to our wonderful hostess Sophia, over at The Blue Chair Diary, it has been one year since she began Sunday Sketches. A weekly art co-op dedicated to showcasing a sketch created during the week.
We post our sketch and visit our friends!
Sophia started with two participants and now has over 30 participants on any given Sunday!
YAY Sophia, congratulations!

Every Sunday she is hostess to this creative blog event. Her dedication has brought all of us together every Sunday, for 52 weeks! It's good to see familiar faces, and new faces every week...it really brightens my day!

Sunday Sketches - Waiting for Snow

"While we try to teach our children all about life,
Our children teach us what life is all about"
Angela Schwindt

This week we had another snow storm, yes, another day off for the kids....and a day of playing in the snow for me! I put away the pencils, shut off the laptop, and spent the day just playing with my kids and our dog in the snow.... Remember how good it felt to ride a sled down a hill covered in fresh fallen snow...Have a snowball fight, and lose? Or scoop up the snow and actually taste it? Or fall down in the snow and giggle?
Yes, I needed a day like this....Thanks girls!
This little sketch is a tribute to all of the little kids and big kids out there waiting patiently for the next snow day....and the call....NO SCHOOL, TODAY!! Yippeeeee!

and Yes, It's Sunday, time for my friend Sophia's Sunday Sketches. Please do pop over and say hello. Why don't you join in this week? Hop on over here, to The Blue Chair Diary. That's where you will find, me!

Sunday Sketches - Take a Sleigh Ride

Well, I wished for snow, and here it is! Blizzard conditions in the Northeast....I am sure we will be doing lots of sleigh riding this week! They are calling for 18-24 inches of snow!

For now though, I am leaving the sleigh riding to Madeline, the Mouse, as I am snuggled up by the fire place watching the football game....I love being tucked inside during a snowstorm, don't you?

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! Thank you for your warm Christmas wishes, too!

Sunday Sketches - Thanksgiving????

After a quick visit to Michael's on Friday, my girls and I got to thinking
What Happened to Thanksgiving???
We went to get a few Thanksgiving decorations for the house, and when we got there we couldn't find ANYTHING....not even one little turkey decoration.....

so I was inspired to create this little Pilgrim girl, for my Sunday Sketches entry...
...She even has a wishbone necklace
Should I go right to Christmas decor for Thanksgiving?
What do you think?

For more Sunday Sketches, please follow me over to The Blue Chair Diary
See you there!

Sunday Sketches - Happy Halloween

The witches fly
Across the sky,
The owls go, "Who ? Who ? Who ?"
The black cats yowl
And green ghosts howl,
"Scary Halloween to you !"

- Nina Willis Walter .

It's time for Halloween and Sunday Sketches
Pop on over to my friends at The Blue Chair Diary for a howling good time.
As you can imagine, it has been very busy for us around here at my house this weekend.
My little ghouls have been to several Halloween parties, and we have been carving pumpkins, trying to bob for apples (another one of my great ideas...ha ha ha) and decorating our pillowcases (candy bags) for the big Halloween extravaganza today....
So, I'm off to watch one of my all time favorite movies, the original
isn't that a great way to begin Halloween?
with Pure Imagination and CHOCOLATE!

Happy Halloween to you!!

Sunday Sketches - What would we do without....

"A friend is someone who understands your past,
believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are..

What would we do without our friends?
Mine make me laugh, make me cry
and hold my hand when the going gets tough!

This is a quick sketch for Sunday Sketches,
I just returned from a 2 day trip with my girlfriends.
It's amazing what a little friend time can do to help the soul....
to my buddies, love you all -

I am off to visit Sophia and my Sunday Sketch friends
over at The Blue Chair Diary, here.
They always have some great sketches to see,
won't you join us?

Sunday Sketches - Be Cool...Follow the Rules

It's Sunday, again. Time for Sunday Sketches,
with Sophia and The Blue Chair Diary.
Time really flies, doesn't it?
I started this sketch the other night, after a visit to my daughter's elementary school.
Remember, it's not polite to talk out of turn.
Sometimes we forget that little rule, even as adults...
This is just a simple reminder....Raise your hand, and please don't talk out of turn!
For more Sunday Sketches, pop on over here, hope to see you there.

We've started to color this illustration.
Mine is above,
and Summer's is below
if your kids would like to color this in,
simply click on the original and print,
and have fun!
