Just a little cloud watching.....

That's what I am going to do today....
grab my favorite blanket, a good book, and find a tall shady tree to lay under,
while I watch the clouds roll by...
I might even find an ice cream cone up in the sky
or a fluffy heart might pass me by...
I will keep you posted....
ah! perfect...
A lazy, hazy summer day....

Chip's Favorite 7 Layer Dip

It's Cinco de Mayo
Time for 7 Layer Dip and Chips
This is one of my favorite appetizers. My friend Cindi brings this to all of our get togethers and it's always the first appetizer to go! It's quick and easy to make. We will be making this tonight with our tacos!

Chip's Favorite 7 Layer Dip

1 Can refried beans
1 Cup Guacamole ( small container)
1 Cup Sour Cream
1 Cup Mayonnaise
1 Package of Taco Seasoning
2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 Jar black olives

In large glass dish, layer in this order,  one can of refried beans. Then guacamole. Next,  mix 1 cup of sour cream and 1/2 cup mayonnaise together and add in the taco seasoning. Spread that on top of the guacamole. For the next layer chop 2 tomatoes, and place on top of sour cream mixture. Finally add the cheddar cheese - top with  black olives, if desired.
Serve with your favorite brand of chips! I like Tostitos Scoops!

Sunday Sketches - and My Winner (s)

It's Sunday...and I am back from my trip.
over at Sophia's blog, The Blue Chair Diary.
So today, I am sharing a quick drawing from my sketchbook...

That's me...
clinging to the chair upon take-off in the airplane yesterday!
I really don't like flying one bit. Can you tell?

I remember as a kid, and even through my late 20s,
if I didn't sit by a window, I was so upset. I always made sure, I sat by the window.
I really loved flying, taking off and just staring out the window....
BUT, now, I will do anything to avoid the window seat...
Instead, I am hanging on for dear life during take-off and landing...
holding my breath and
thinking
GET ME OFF THIS PLANE!

How about you, how do you feel about flying?
Is it just me?

SO...a HUGE thank you all for the WONDERFUL birthday wishes, my friends.
I enjoyed reading all of your sweet messages.
AND now for The WINNER(s) of my
Where in the World is Heather give-away....
and Eva
They both were the first to guess Breckenridge, Colorado
I think the Starbucks clue gave it away, hee! hee!
Yes, I was in Breckenridge, Colorado, on top of the world!
What an amazing place!
Gorgeous views, weather and ski conditions made for a great week!
Thank you ALL for playing along!
So, girls, just send me your email and I will contact you about your special prize!

And... YES, they have a Starbucks - Clue #2

Hello My Friends!
Here it is....
Clue #2
I am in luck -
There is a Starbucks here.
And, I was 12,000 feet above sea level today - I am actually
feeling a little bit lightheaded as we speak! :)
So, there you have Clue #2.
Starbucks -
12,000 feet above sea level...
anyone recognize this place?

hmmmm? Where in the world could I be?
Some of you are very close to guessing my locale....
BUT, if you can get the exact location, you will receive a special gift!
I will have one more clue, by the end of the week...in case you are still wondering!

How are all of you?
What are you up to this week?

Inspiration Avenue - Self Portrait

The prompt this week over at Inspiration Avenue is Self Portrait.
Here is my version of my self portrait.
If I am home and in my studio,
I usually have on my pink fleece from Lilly Pulitzer, which I bought in Maine, 8 years ago
...it's my favorite sweatshirt in the whole wide world!
I would wear it everywhere if I could!
It's bright pink!
My kids are usually glued by my side, and I always have my Starbucks cup with me!
So,  that's me!
Ok, maybe I left out a few wrinkles here and there....

Have a great day, my friends!
xo

To call or not to call?

I
"I remember when I was growing up the rule was, don't call anyone after 10 p.m.
now the rule, is don't call anyone ...EVER"
Jonathan Adler
This quote make me laugh out loud when I read it in Sunday's Style Section of the New York Times. It's taken from an article appropriately titled,  "Don't Call Me, I Won't Call You."
The gist of the story is that modern forms of communication like emailing and texting have taken over in popularity versus the good-old fashioned telephone call.
 Ring...Ring...
has been substituted with,
You've Got Mail...
The article goes on to say that actually answering a cell phone is rather annoying, too - it's like who wants to run to find the phone and what if you are scrolling or composing an email?
So I go to thinking?
How much do I use the phone?

Nothing like I used to - my ear used to hurt from all the chit chatting I did!
Now,  it's easy to send a quick email or text, and I don't feel like I am interrupting anyone. People are so busy these days.
According to the article,  rather than a phone call from a friend or co-worker,  people are much more prone to email or text first, then follow through with a phone call, that is, only if necessary.
Using the telephone is left for emergencies, talking to your parents,
telemarketing sales people and school nurses. Some people have given up their land lines all together!

that's me with the pigtails, circa 1979
"are you off the phone yet, mommy?"

remember the long phone cords from the 1970s? They were great for jump rope or wrapping yourself up in!

So tell me, do you spend a lot of time "talking" on the phone?
Do you still have a land line in your home?
Do you still call your friends and family
or do you correspond via text or email?

I think I am going to give a good friend a call today!
have a good one!
See you tomorrow for Paint Party Friday!

Hello Peeps & Reeses' Eggs

Well, it's time to take the Christmas Studio illustration off the blog (over there on the side bar), ---goodbye gingerbread cookies, HELLO PEEPS and Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs -

This little illustration also features artwork from my kids - see it's hanging behind me! They wanted to put something on my blog, and I LOVE it! How sweet. I have LOTS of their work strewn around my studio - my little budding artists.

So, when it comes to spring candy -

are you a Peeps person or Reese's Chocolate Peanut Butter Egg person?

I must say, I can't resist a Reese's Egg!
