Sweet Saturdays at the Cherry Blossom Festival

The most beautiful thing in the world is, of course, the world itself.
Wallace Stevens

It's Cherry Blossom Time in Washington, DC
In 1912, an incredible gift of 3,000 cherry blossom trees was bestowed on Washington, DC by Tokyo, Japan. Rooted strongly and surviving outside elements, the trees have withstood the test of time –
This year, In celebration of the Cherry Blossom Centennial, Washington, D.C will paint the town PINK - for the nation's greatest springtime celebration....
The National Cherry Blossom Festival....currently in progress

A living reminder of International Friendship, the celebration will run through April 27, 2012
For more information, visit the Nationalcherryblossomfestival. org

A pretty sweet way to spend a Saturday,  I must say!

Since I live only 40 miles away, I usually go to the cherry blossom festival every year. This year is the first year in a lot of years I doubt I will make it. Raining today ;-(

Hello Heather, yes it's that time of year here too, trees all fluffy pinky, white, sooo beautiful!
It's the first Spring week-end and I'm just loving the freshness of early Spring, the little buds and a visit to the gardening centre, where I came upon these beautiful blue orchids, amazing. I want to go back to take some photos! Enjoy your week-end and the arrival of Spring!

Heather! I laughed when I say the first photo. I have almost the same exact image on my camera right now, took it while walking the dog. I love the blooms this time of year too.
