Sunday Sketches - A little bit of freedom

Sunday Sketches
"The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage.”

It took courage for me to get on a plane this weekend and leave my kids behind
for a quick get-away with my friends...
I used to love to fly, but then after 9/11 and the birth of my first daughter, Summer Rose, the idea of flying terrified me...

It's been a slow process of getting back up in the air for me...
each trip gets easier and easier...I get a bit more courageous every time...

I saw this little girl on the beach this weekend on my trip and thought about the freedom we have as children....No worries, no fear, pure joy and excitement...about life...
She was free...
She was courageous...
She wass happy!

Just like me this weekend,  it took courage for me to get on the plane,
but when I did, I felt free...happy and FREE!

Happy Sunday
Heather

She is beautiful - again a feeling or joy, exuberance! I don't love flying so much these days either, and as a past travelor i used to Love it! - i think it is a control issue :-) I need to fly that plane! I think its pretty common - i do fly though and i am working on letting go - not getting stir crazy on planes - feeling that freedom of courage and joy! I love her! Congratulations to you for as they say these days - feeling the fear and doing it anyway :-)

Another beautiful and lighthearted sketch again, Heather. I LOVE her! :) I look forward to your drawings each week.

So glad you were able to fight/face your fears of flying again. I am not a fan of doing so either, but it is a great rush! hee

Happy SS!

She is so sweet! I love the freedom that comes with being a child...I try every day to recapture that.

Smiles and Happy Mother's Day!

Your sketch is completely charming. You captured the spirit of free and happy so well. I hope you had a wonderful time. It makes total sense that it is hard to leave your little girl.

I love the movement in this sketch. She really made me smile! I'm a nervous flyer too, so I understand how you felt. Good for you to overcome your fear and fly anyway!
